A case of solitary bone cyst encountered in the shaft of the fibula is reported. The case was a 16-year-old boy who complained swelling over the proximal half of the right leg and pain and limitation of motion of the right knee of one month¢¥s duration.
Roentgenological study revealed a large cystic destruction involving the proximal half of the right fibula with an egg-shell like thin cortical expansion and a pathological fracture.
Resection of the affected fibula was performed including at both ends. The cyst measured 12cm in length and was composed of three major cavities seperated by fibroosseous septa. The content of -the cyst wus straw-colored fluid. Some blood ¢¥clot were also found where pathological fracture had occurred.
The diagnosis was confirmed by microscopic examaination.
